What is the Difference in Medicare Assisted Living & Medicaid Assisted Living
Island Assisted Living Facility is a Medicaid Program Participating in the New York ALP Medicaid Program. This program is designed to help those who are eligible for Medicaid but still want the private pay level of comfort and care. It provides residents with all of the benefits that Island offers.
The key question we get is since Island Assisted Living is a Medicaid facility does it offer Medicare Assisted Living?
Medicare Assisted Living
Medicare does not cover Assisted Living however if an individual has medicare often times they will qualify for medicaid and then be allowed to become a resident at Island Assisted Living. The next step is to contact Island Assisted Living and we will help you understand how to complete the necessary documentation and walk you through the process. If you have medicare we’ll work to help you get covered under medicaid and ensure you have little to no out of pocket expenses for the cost of living at Island Assisted Living.
Medicare Assisted Living
People often assume that medicare and medicaid are the same thing but they are different government programs. Medicare does NOT cover the care in Assisted Living Facilities but Medicaid does. Often times people with medicare will qualify for medicaid and the coverage needed for assisted living. At Island Assisted we are a medicaid assisted living facility and we do accept medicaid which in turn allows many of our residents to join our community with little to no cost out of pocket.
